Woo-hoo! It's the end of the week and I am happy to close this week with some fantastic picks from Pink Sass. I have began following this blog after I saw her stunning wedding pictures and affection for pink. This beautiful Mrs always shares her fun adventures with friends, family and her hubby. Plus she has keen sense of fashion I am loving how she styles her hair. Be sure to check Pink Sass out and enjoy her essentials below....

*What one item can you not be without in the summer?

My big sunnies. I seriously can not live without my sun glasses. They bring me so much happiness. The bigger the better.

-Trips to the beach!

-Oh and of course every cute summer dress I can get my hands on! (Just a very small sample of what I'm craving)

*What is your essential summer song for 2009?

Thanks Nicole for your fantastic playlist (many which are already on my summer playlist as well) that I am sure many readers will begin downloading immediately. You have me officially craving that Michelob Ultra (love the tiny can), and I may just have to pick some up on my way home to enjoy this weekend.

Happy Weekend Ya'll!

Forever Frugal Friday

I am loving this Fab Patent Skinny Belt Set from Forever in silver and gold. I have been on a mad hunt for skinny belts to spice up my wardrobe and these sets provide just what I am looking for. Perfect for work slacks and a crisp white shirt tucked in or that tunic that needs a little tailoring.

Love them!

Play It Cool....

Is what I kept saying to myself over and over again yesterday when the two handsome fellows below held the door open for me when I left work yesterday.

It went a little something like this....

Scene - Walking out of work, distracted as always, fiddling with my blackberry, see man holding door for me - walk through door.

Me: Thanks! (Realized man holding door is Bradley Cooper and Ryan Reynolds is next to him waiting - stars in eyes)

Bradley: No Problem! Have a nice night. (Holy shizzle he has the most piercing blue eyes)

Me: You too! (My eyes keep darting back and forth between the two of them as I begged my legs to work and allow me to walk away without eating sh*t)

And Scene.

It was a glorious Thursday evening *sigh*

Summer Essential Series ~ Jackie's Joy

I am overjoyed to share Jackie over at Jackie's Joy summer selections. I originally met Jackie at WSU and instantly was a fan of hers. She is super sweet, stylish and did I mention the girl can cook? I haven't personally experienced any of her creations, but know from what I see her creating on her blog...YUM! Be sure to head over there for great recipes, pics of her cute new pup and her darling niece and nephew E & Q.

*What one item can you not be without in the summer?

My Haviana Slims...
Havianas have always been the best flip flop in my book, and since discovering "slims" last season I am officially hooked. These little graphite lovelies have already been a favorite on my feet this summer. They go with everything, and the boost of metallic adds just enough kick to keep them from feeling like just another pair of boring flips.

HEIRLOOM TOMATOES!
They literally TASTE like summer to me...and my goodness are they pretty (in a "non-perfect" sort of way)! I am one of those people that used to have to force myself to like tomatoes. I always thought they looked so gorgeous and delicious, however the flavor always left me wishing for much more. So after years of trying to trick myself in to liking tomatoes, I discovered HEIRLOOMS. This type of tomato simply comes from a variety of seeds that have been collected and saved for their outstanding flavor - often passed down from generation to generation. I thought it was interesting to discover that commercial tomato breeders (which supply 90+% of the standard supermarket selection) focus primarily on hybridizing tomatoes. This makes the tomato perfectly symmetrical and red and provides a longer shelf life - making them durable enough to survive the rigors of automated harvesting and long-distance shipping. Sadly, this process strips away most of the flavor that actually makes a tomato taste GOOD. Just remember, the unique combination of colors and the rustic shape of an heirloom tomato = major flavor. Thankfully you can now find heirlooms at most grocery stores, a little spendy but definitely worth it. Or you can completely bypass the grocery store all together and grow your own (heirloom seeds and starts can easily be purchased online or at your local nursery).

* What song will you be listening to this summer on repeat?

Any song from Bob Marley's Legend CD.
The entire album just makes me want to be outside, soaking up some hot sun with good friends and an icy bev!
Happy Summer!

Thanks Jackie! I will definitely be sure to try an heirloom tomato as I am not a lover of tomatoes. I also will not be without my Havianas this summer, and Bob is always on a summer playlist for me as well. Tune in tomorrow for Nicole's picks.

Scrumdiddlyumptious!

I made the mistake of stopping into Sephora today on my lunch break. Luckily I had enough restraint to walk out empty handed, but this Philosophy Sweet Shoppe Set almost had me reaching for my wallet. The Squishy Red Fishy was my least favorite (but still smelled yummy), the Bubble Gum is phenomenal (visions of my childhood and bubble gum ice cream came to mind) and the Mouth Watering Watermelon had me drooling on the counter. They are the epitome of summer yummy goodness and I fear that I may not be able to hold off from purchasing these much longer. Added bonus....The Bubble Gum is available in the full size bottle in case you are not a fan of the other two.

If you are easily tempted, may I suggest you proceed directly past this post and continue on down to another (and most definitely DO NOT go in the store and smell them)....

Summer Essential Series ~ The Look 4 Less

If you aren't already a follower, or a daily stalker of The Look 4 Less then you need to absolutely become one! Jen has a way of finding the exact knockoffs of your favorite designers at a recession friendly price. I am often amazed and elated at her finds because they are often exactly what I am craving at that exact moment. Below are Jen's summer essentials...

*What one item can you not be without in the summer?

A great sundress like this one from J Crew (I own it in navy).

*What are you craving for summer 2009?

A pair of cropped boyfriend jeans like these from Gap.

*What is your essential summer song for 2009?

I don't know what it is about that song but it makes me want to dance! It's so catchy.

Thanks Jen for sharing your picks with us. That Cobra Starship song also makes me want to jump up and down and dance all night, and I happen to adore that cute little Leighton Meester even more now. Check back tomorrow for Jaclyn's summer goods.

Appalled....

Last night after softball practice and dinner I watched the pilot for 10 Things I Hate About You on ABC Family (I seriously HEART that channel), and had thirty minutes to spare, so I flipped my TV to Bravo and tuned into the show NYC Prep (advertised as the the "Real Life Gossip Girl").

My mom always taught me that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Apparently these children (yeah I said it), were not taught the same manners. Luckily for them, I will try to stay true to the motto and just say that this show and the "stars" on it, are disgusting. I am mad I wasted thirty minutes of my life watching these spoiled kids speak so highly of themselves and walk around with their noses in the air. Honestly, I was disturbed after watching these 15-18 years behave and speak as they did. Not attractive at all, and just because you have money, it doesn't make it alright for you to look down on everyone who doesn't.

Lastly...where are these kids parents? Do they watch this show and pat themselves on the back and say "job well done"? I understand that two of the characters are 18 and can make the decisions on their own, but what parent in their right mind allows their 15 year old daughter to be on the show?

I will get off my soapbox now, and guarantee that I will NEVER watch that ridiculous show again.

Summer Essential Series ~ Let's Be Honest

Welcome back ladies! I am running a little behind from the three day weekend, work is a bit nutty and I meant to post this yesterday...whoops! Mariana over at Let's Be Honest shares her summer essentials today. I have been racking my brain trying to remember if I have ever officially met Mariana since we went to rival high schools and have many of the same friends, but all you need to know is that this girl cracks me up. Her blog offers humor, sarcasm and a little sneak peek into her daily life including her love/hate relationship with cheese. Mariana's responses had me salivating and laughing, check them out below...

*What one item can you not be without in the summer?

Scunci black headbands, perfect to keep your hair out of your face at the beach, on walks, at yoga, etc..

*What are you craving for summer 2009?

{via}

I crave a perfect beach body, but let's be honest here, I really fill up on my mother in law's baked potato salad. I also love a Mexican favorite, corn on the cob with mayo and parmesan cheese. It sounds weird but it's soooo good.

*What is your essential summer song for 2009?

{via}

I will be listening to the theme music from all the Real Housewives series, I can't get enough!!

Thank you Mariana for your summer picks. I am pretty sure I need to pick some corn immediately! Check back tomorrow for J from The Look 4 Less selections.

Song Of The Week: Summertime In The LBC

Back when I was in high school, my fellow cheerleaders and I thought we were super thug, and only listened to rap on our way to games. The more expletives the better. I remember listening to Dove Shack's, Summertime in the LBC on repeat over and over in my 1988 Toyota Corolla (AKA The Hot Tamale). Brings a smile to my face every time I hear it.
