Word Up Wednesday ~ Happy B*Day Mrs. R

(photo by b - cupcakes from me)

i'd like to start off today by wishing my bestie mrs. r a very, very, happy birthday today!  she is the bestest friend a girl could ask for and i feel so lucky to have her in my life.  she is so awesome that all she wants for her birthday is a donation to charity water.  if you wanna show her some love and donate to a good cause then click here!

best way to celebrate and live life!

feeling pretty happy after this wonderful weekend!

love.

sorry for my brief hiatus...things got a little crazy!  hoping to be back to my regular postings tomorrow!

also a very special b*day wish to my daddy-o who shares this special day with mrs. r.  love you both!

Happy {Christy's B*Day} Weekend!

we are celebrating my gf christy's b*day tomorrow and b*day girl definitely likes to have a good time, so i have a feeling the photo below describes exactly how my sunday will be...

may your weekend be full of celebrating friends and that special mom in your life!

xoxo

Forever Frugal Friday ~ Current Faves

i want to wear this ditsy floral surplice dress w/ belt tomorrow for my gf's b*day celebration.  sexy, cute and paired with cowboy boots totally appropriate for early evening celebrating in venice!

a few years ago my gf mrs. r, brought me back a fantastic weekender/workout bag that i have used the life out.  the zipper no longer zips and it needs to be replaced badly.  i have been looking for an affordable weekender/workout bag for sometime now (under $50) and think i may have found a winner with this striped canvas duffle.

i also want this strapless combo dress for summer cocktails and possibly the wedding i am attending next weekend in seattle.  only i would replace the cheap black belt with my gold glitter jcrew skinny belt or my neon pink express skinny belt to liven it up a bit.

Gift Giving Guide ~ Mother's Day

mother's day is this sunday and you still have time to show that favorite mom in your life (whether it is your actual mom, your best friend, sister, aunt, whomever) how special she is to you.
below are some great gifts to share with that amazing woman in your life.

help mom step into spring with this darling bold geo dot scarf.  not only is it trendy with the polka dots, but the red/lavendar combo is sure to get her noticed!

what better way to say i think you are wonderful than to give a gift that says just that?  the philosophy "i think you are wonderful" set is just too cute and perfect for any mother in your life.

my mom adores candles and often has to put herself on "candle restriction" as she accumulates so many.  however i think she would love to add the capri blue mercury glass jar candle and/or the  glassybaby in big sky to her growing collection.

my mom is quite the suzy homemaker and is constantly baking cupcakes for various events.  i am pretty sure any mother would love a little help in the frosting department and the williams-sonoma frosting is sure not to disappoint.  pair it with the mothers little book of home-baked treats cookbook and you are sure to be rewarded with a tasty treat!

we all know that growing older doesn't always help with one's vision.  what you can help your mom with is looking good while she helps her vision in these darling kate spade jodie readers.  available in a variety of colors, you'll be sure to find the right one for your favorite visually challenged female.

handwritten notes are a favorite from my mom, and i think just about anyone now a days loves receiving a little piece of mail addresses to them (other than a bill).  the receiver is sure to be flooded with love and affection when they open up one of these many thanks and lots of love foldover cards.

i want to thank my own mama for being such a fabulous role model and raising me with lots of love, support and smiles.  i wish i could be there this sunday to celebrate and spoil the heck out of her, but will have to wait until wednesday to give her a proper squeeze she deserves.

gifts aside, be sure to thank a mother around you and make her feel a little extra special this week!

Song Of The Week: Disparate Youth

loving the easy, laid back groove of santigold's "disparate youth" lately.  it makes me want to sip on a blended margarita somewhere sunny and warm with my fave companion.

santigold is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists.  she is super talented and unique and i am just loving about any song she puts out there.  if you are unfamiliar with her, listen on spotify immediately.

happy monday!

Happy {Cinco de Mayo} Weekend

wishing you all a happy cinco de mayo full of salty beers, savory margaritas and a saucy sangria!

Forever Frugal Friday

i am still on the hunt for a the perfect summer wedge and keep trying and trying and keep coming home empty handed.

from the pictures i see online, these tiered wedge sandals seem pretty cute and a decent height.  however, the think the suede and cork could come off looking cheap and i may need to try before i buy on these guys.

what i like about them is that they v below the ankle, elongating the leg (i need all the help i can get with that).  anyone seen any adorable wedges that are nude and angle below the ankle for under $150?

i'll report back my finding on these...

Girl Crush ~ Rachel McAdams

a few weeks back when we were in canada, we were playing, "name a famous celebrity from canada" and surprisingly we came up with quite a few.

my favorite of the few is of course ryan gosling who happens to have a deep connection with my other favorite and current girl crush rachel mcadams!

the girl is seriously the girl next door gorgeous.

her makeup and hair on the red carpet are almost always flawless and what i love most about her makeup is that her sister is her makeup artist!  talk about keeping it in the family!  rachel always has a dewy glow and looks amazing.  when trying to find ideal makeup, rachel is always one i look to first for inspiration.

not to sound like a creeper, but can we talk about her eyes.  such a pretty color and so full of expression.  i think part of what makes her such a great actress is her portrayal of emotions through her eyes.  they are captivating and expressive and i love it!

the girl has a bangin' bod.  it's toned and not too skinny and she really dresses for her figure.  whether she is sporting clinging and plunging white or shining in see through red marchesa.  the girl always kills it on the red carpet.

i love her transformation from sweet, sexy girl next door into sexy, mysterious vixen in her editorials.  high fashion clothes, glamorous hair, and a cat eye.  she screams hollywood royalty.

some fun facts about rachel that will make you love her even more:

*she born in the same hospital and her ex-boyfriend ryan gosling (luckiest girl alive)
*she's allergic to horses (i'm allergic to rabbits)
*use to work at mcdonald's
*turned down a chance to appear in vanity fair's hollywood issue when she found out it was a nude session
*woody allen wrote the part of inez (owen wilson's wife) specifically for her
*gosling has described her as "one of the great loves of my life" (luckiest girl alive)

seriously could she be any cuter or more likable?  i love her movies.  i love her style.  i love her attitude.  girl crush much?

I'm Lovin' It ~ Summer Lovin'

happy may gray day!  even though the gray skies continue to rule over los angeles, my recent spray tan appointment and vacation in 15 days has me in a summer lovin' kind of mood.

even though my vacation isn't to anywhere tropical, i am dreaming of blue skies, warm sun on my shoulders and all the fun that summer brings today.

the items that currently haunt my summer dreams include:

jo malone vanilla & anise cologne - smells just like a root beer float.  yum!

every summer my flip flops take a beating and need to be replaced and every year i almost cave and buy those $50+ capri ones and every year i am saved by a cheaper pair.  this year gap nailed it with their leather flip flops available in a variety of colors and even come with a little extra cushion for your footsies.  awesome.

like the ray of light  kissing my shoulders, my toes will be sporting deborah lippmann's version of ray of light.  perhaps i will even listen to madonna's take on "ray of light".  that's cray, cray.

fringe benefits this summer - yes please!

in order to fully get the most benefits from my fringe, i plan to snack on these tasty little that's it. bars that give you two servings of fruit in one bar.  two fruits, one bar - much better than that other two girls one cup business (do not google it).

lastly a sweet little tumbler to enjoy a variety of light beverages from - although i am heavily leaning towards a calimocho or sangria - yum.

what are you craving for summer?
