Spring 2011 RTW Collections

Last October when I browsed the Spring 2010 RTW Collections Elie Saab stood out the most for me and I had some fun pairing celebs together with dresses.  Well after reviewing most of the collections for 2011, I again I have picked out my favorite gowns and paired them with the celeb I think would rock them hardcore.  I like to think that I am letting my inner Rachel Zoe out.

Oh Christian Siriano, how I adore you!  I mean not only was he fabulous on Project Runway, but he also created an amazing affordable shoe collection for Payless (the pumps I am currently sporting today).  And then he does this...this spectacular Spring 2011 RTW Collection that included this magnificent gown above that is part Peaches and Cream Barbie and all good.  This is a lot of dress and the first girl that came to mind is the gorgeous Dianna Agron from Glee.  I want her to present an award and just wow the crowd in this one - perhaps the Golden Globes?

Kate Hudson could absolutely carry this simple but ethereal Badgley Mischka RTW Collection gown.  It's a bit hippy like Kate but just plain gorgeous.  This dress would also be perfect for presenting an award at the SAG Awards or Golden Globes.

Drew Barrymore has evolved into quite a fashionable gal these past few years.  She has worn some bold choices that seem questionable, and yet perfect for her at the same time.  I think she would dazzle in this Jenny Packham Spring RTW Collection dress.  It is sexy and bold and requires the perfectly confident gal to wear it and Drew gets my vote for this one.

Natalie Portman has been receiving a lot of Oscar Buzz for her new film Black Swan in which she plays a ballerina.  This Lela Rose Spring RTW Collection gown would be perfect for one of the many film premieres.  It is elegant, rich and looks like it belongs on a ballerina.  Natalie always looks good on the red carpet whether she is sporting a shaved head or a fancy updo.  The entire Lela Rose collections was full of beautiful colors and I would love to own any of the pieces.

I hate to admit that I haven't seen An Education yet, nor Wal Street: Money Never Sleeps but Carey Mulligan seems to have created quite a name for herself.  Her cute pixie cut and darling smile are so doll like to me, so when I saw this Marchesa Spring RTW Collection baby doll gown I though of none other than Carey.  She seems a little retro and Audrey Hepburn-ish and I think this dress would look so great on the red carpet.  Since it is a little more casual, I would deem it more appropriate for a movie premiere or the SAG Awards.

Marchesa also featured this fun one shoulder shorty that Cameron Diaz would so own on at a movie premiere.  It would show off her toned shoulders and gorgeous gams.  It also is a little playful and fun, which would really allow Cameron's personality to shine.

Julia Roberts is sure to be making the rounds this coming award season with her role in Eat, Pray, Love.  She may not be nominated, but you can guarantee she will be making some red carpet appearances and she has always done such a great job of wearing pieces that flatter her and make her shine.  Well, this Oscar de la Renta Spring RTW Collection  sparkly number should allow just that.  Her radiant smile won't be the only thing you are looking at.

I always love whatever Rachel Bilson is wearing and I have been missing her all dressed up.  I would like for her to make an appearance at the Golden Globes and wear this Oscar de la Renta  dress pretty please.  I love the print and just know that Miss Bilson would absolutely end up on the best dressed list in this gown.

What was your favorite Spring 2011 RTW Collection?  Where there any collections you absolutely hated?  Do you agree with my celeb selections or would you change them out with different celebs?

Oh Dexter!

Two years ago I randomly threw Dexter: The First Season into my Netflix queue.  Little did I know how absolutely addicted I would become to this series.

Season One had me shocked to be rooting for a serial killer.  But Michael C. Hall plays the character so well that you can't help but love him.

Dexter: The Second Season was my favorite (until season 4) as all hell brakes loose and each episode left me rushing to the next one.  This season is also where I developed a creepy crush on "Dexter" (not Michael C. Hall the actor).  I couldn't help it!

Dexter: The Third Season had some dark moments that definitely factored into Dexter's twisted psyche, but was my lease favorite of all the seasons.

Dexter: The Fourth Season was hands down the most incredible season of television I have ever watched.  I laughed, I cried, I gasped and was left needing more immediately.  John Lithgow won an Emmy for Best Guest Actor on a Drama and trust me when I say you will never look at John Lithgow the same again.

Which left me dying for the Season Five premiere last night...

And sadly, I was left feeling ehhh after last nights episode.  I am not sure I like where they are headed...I feel like the last season was so good and so intense that this season just seems doomed a little?  I don't know, I am going to try and stay positive but I just wanted more last night, you know?

Which has me wondering a few things....do any of you watch Dexter?  Do you have a crush on Dexter?  What is your favorite season of Dexter so far? And without spoiling anything, what did you think about last nights premiere?

Song Of The Week: Like A G6

This past Labor Day Weekend, Mrs. R asked me if I was familiar with the song "Like A G6".  Much to her shock, I was not familiar and she immediately downloaded it and introduced me to what is fast becoming one of my new faves.

In fact I need to apologize to my coworkers, softball players, and friends as all I have been singing for the last few days is the lyrics, "Like A G6, Like A G6" which I am sure is highly annoying.  This song gets me pumped up for whatever I need to do for the day.  Heading to the gym "Like A G6", walking to my softball game "Like A G6", getting ready to celebrate Septemberfrest 2010 and Mr. R's birthday, you guessed it...."Like A G6".

In fact, I think I will start off my Monday right now, "Like A G6".

"Magic" Makeup

Those who know me, know my immense hate dislike for anything involving magic.  The word alone makes me scrunch my nose in disgust.  Which is going to make getting through this post a little more difficult, but I think the products are worth it, even if they both contain the word magic.  Here goes....

Having a Sephora across the street from work is both good and bad.  Good because I get to see and test all the new products, bad because I then want to spend all of my paycheck buying these new products.  My self control has been pretty good as of late, but I fear it will be crumbling soon after trying Givenchy's Hydra Sparkling Magic Lip & Cheek Balm .  This stuff gives you the prettiest dewy glow that is specific to your skin tone.  I tried it out and got a nice shade of pink, while my co-worker ended up with a little more a rosy color.  In any case, it gave us both a very pretty cheeky look and has me wanted to buy, buy, buy now.

{color shown is Starchild}

I then proceeded to try out Tarina Tarantino's Odyssey Magic Hour Cream Shadow in Nebula (a shimmery white) just under my eyebrows as a highlighter and to lighten up my eyeshadow a bit and this stuff glides on so easy and really just made my eyes pop a little bit and look less tired (bonus).  It is the perfect shadow to layer over a smokey eye so you don't end up looking like Taylor Momsen (yikes).

I suppose somehow, someway, I can get over my extreme hatred dislike of magic, just for these two products....

Song Of The Week: Dog Days Are Over

I am a little embarrassed to admit this, but I had no idea who Florence + the Machine was until I watched the VMA's on September 12th.  I had seen the Lungs album at Starbucks and on Itunes but never really investigated further than that.

Then I watched this, and realized I had heard this song before in the "Eat, Pray, Love" trailer.  Well my friends, I am absolutely 100% addicted to this song.  "Dog Days Are Over" has become my "happy song".  I listen to it every morning when I wake up and walk Waldo, and then I listen to it in my car on the way into work (stuck in traffic) and then I listen again on my way home and slap my hands to the beat on the steering wheel.  It is so hard to not sing along with or dance to this song when it is on.

Needless to say, I purchased the entire album and it does not disappoint.  Florence Welch has quite an incredible voice and she sounds equally as amazing performing live.  In fact, I just read that she was discovered at nightclub in London by a music agent, singing in the bathroom drunk.  Quite a claim to fame story if you ask me.

What's your "happy song"?

Forever Frugal Friday

I have been eyeing this skirt at Forever for about two months now.  Contemplating whether I really need it or really like it that much.  Well, at the engagement party I attended on Sunday, a guest was wearing this skirt and I realized that I do REALLY want it and need it.  I am thinking it would be cute with a button down and blazer at work and then a tank, cardi and boots for dinner with the girls.  In any case, this Striped Skirt w/ Belt is ridiculously cute and looks like you got it from Anthropologie not Forever 21.  Done and done.

Desperately Seeking Sully ~ Kitchen Goods

This past weekend I spent Saturday morning (and evening) at my girl Felicity's house enjoying tasty food and all her newlywed gifts she received (think linens, plates, platters, etc).  One of the new goods we tested out was the Nespresso® CitiZ & Milk Espresso Machine which I am totally obsessed with now.

This little baby makes the tastiest of coffees.  I should know, I did help myself to three servings.  The machine is SOOO easy to use and the coffee tastes and smells so incredible.  The milk frother makes the foamiest and creamiest milk you have seen or tasted, and all of this is achieved in under two minutes.

You basically buy these pre-measured air tight coffee capsules  insert them in the top of the machine and out flows this beautifully fragrant shot of espresso or cup of coffee.

Enjoying my nonfat latte in Feliss' new darling Emma cup and saucer.  I drink a lot of coffee and I have to say it was one of the best cups I have had in a very long time.  The best part is the coffee works out to be about $0.65 a capsule which means having a cheap cup of coffee that tastes good has never been easier (once you buy the machine that is).  Officially obsessed.

I really enjoyed drinking my coffee from this cute little cup and saucer, which made me realize I don't own any, which in turn made me search cup and saucers, which brought me to this china below.

The Missoni 'Margherita' Collection had me at first glance.  This bright collection screams fashion and fabulous and would really wake me up in the morning with a smile.  The colors, the pattern, and the mug alone, just perfection.  And those plates aren't too shabby either.

The other day I walked into Williams Sonoma with my girl Lisa and stopped immediately upon entering, when I saw the sauce below front and center.

Pumpkin Parmesan Pasta Sauce sounds absolutely delightful.  One of the things I love most about fall is the introduction of pumpkin as an ingredient at restaurants.  Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Pumpkin Bread, Pumpkin Scones, Pumpkin Butter, but Pumpkin Parmesan Pasta Sauce.....get out of town.  I believe I will be stopping by the store again to pick me up a jar as it sounds just too good not to pass up.

What kitchen item are you currently loving or can't live without?

You Know You Love Me....XOXO

O-M-G. I am so excited for the Gossip Girl girl premiere tonight.  Somehow I was completely unaware that the premiere was tonight.  Luckily my girl Felicity had me covered.  Phew!

I cannot wait to see what these two lovely ladies have been up to in Paris.

What will happen between these two?  (Her dress is so incredible - swoon)

I just watched the trailer for season four and let me tell you, it looks like it will not disappoint!

I am also really loving Eileen's version of "Ces Bottes Sont Faites Pour Marcher" (available on Itunes) that is playing in the background.  Sexy and fun.  Can't wait!!

XOXO

Song Of The Week: Lover, Lover

Last weekend, Miss I Spry asked if she could pick the song of the week for YBB one of these days.  I of course said yes, and when she told me her choice of Lover, Lover by Jerrod Niemann, I had to laugh because I had just downloaded the "Free Song of the Week" on Itunes days earlier and was in love with the song already.

As I watched the video for the first time today, I have to say that I have a major crush on that Jerrod Niemann.  How cute is he?
