Forever Frugal Friday

i fell in love with this striped cutout dress after seeing it on stephanie sterjovski's instagram feed the other weekend.  i think it is so cute and fun and summery and i am crossing my fingers that i find it at my local forever 21 this weekend to wear to a going away party saturday night.

Make This - Sausage Spaghetti Squash Bake

i have had my eye on this recipe for quite some time and actually go around to making it this past monday.  the results...

so good, so good, so good!

this sausage spaghetti squash bake is not only healthy, but it is also so easy to make and gluten free!

i follow paleOMG on instagram and honestly have saved so many pictures of items that look delicious and healthy to make at home.  based on my experience from this recipe, i have a feeling just about any of her recipes are sure to be a success!

i added a smidge of parmesan cheese to the top, but have to admit that it was not required and going forward i will not add it again.  the dish is flavorful and makes great leftovers.

enjoy!

Happy {Recovery} Weekend!

first long weekend of twenty thirteen and i find myself recouping from a damn sinus infection.  yuck.

while i would love to get all wild and crazy and live it up this weekend, i fear that may not be the best idea for my already compromised immune system.

instead i plan to get my sweat on, read a little, de-clutter and sneak in some fun with a brunch tomorrow with some gals you should definitely be following

how are you planning to live it up this weekend?  be sure to have an extra glass (or two) for me please!

Forever Frugal Friday

after seeing this waffle knit sweater on the look for less and then seeing andee from the honeybee in it i have been crushing on this sweater pretty bad.

well today, at lunch wouldn't you just know that this sweater was all alone, front and center as i walked past forever 21.  and wouldn't you just know that it happened to be my size?  well you can pretty much assume (and you would be correct) that it made its way home with me.

in the photo above it looks yellow but this sweater is neon green - do not be fooled!  the sweater is also available in cobalt blue and cream.  perfect piece for the cold winter days ahead.

Make This - No Bake Peanut Butter S’mores Squares

{photo by me}

a few weeks back it was b's big dirty thirty b*day.  b and i have a shared love of sweet treats and therefore i went all out on his b*day desserts.

per his request i made slutty brownies which turned out quite amazing and were definitely a hit at the party.  only problem is they do not photograph well at all, but are so easy to make (and can we just talk about how stinking darling rosie is?) and totally an indulgence everyone will appreciate.

i also made his favorite funfetti cupcakes which were a hit with just about everybody.

my third dessert were these no bake peanut butter smores squares.  i'd be lying if i told you i made them for brandon.  nope.  these puppies were my treat to myself for b*day planning and also a dream since the oven is not required!  these bars were had everyone at the party asking me what they were and going in for seconds.  it helped that the birthday boy enjoyed them as well!

the recipe makes a lot and i was able to bring the remaining treats to work for a wedding shower the next day and again, they were quite a hit.

if you are looking for a no brainer, wow them at your next summer bbq dessert - look no further!  these treats will make you the most popular guest around!

Marge's Whistler Wonderland

our international bachelorette party started with a bang - quite literally when my plane was struck by lightening leaving l.a. but after a quick plane change we were whistler bound for margie's celebration.

we were blessed with incredible weather, a lodge that slept 22 and a black bear to boot in our backyard.  shenanigans ensued, flipcup and hand waves were all the rage.  and i realized just how much i love me some fireball with these group of gals.

a recap of the weekend that was as i look forward to the weekend ahead in may!
olympics rings were awesome

some of us girls out exploring the village

the gorgeous bride to be

so happy i got to see mrs r!

my girl joat captured me "teach me how to dougie"-ing, with a random dudes beanie.  pretty sure that move isn't included on the "teach me how dougie" instructional video.  needless to say some drinks had been consumed and it was an excellent celebration!

tomorrow i am rooting again for kentucky and ohio state to pull out the wins, which will bring me that much closer to winning my office bracket!  then out in manhattan beach for a night of debauchery and fun!

sunday brings brunch and mimosas with an incredible group of girls, an afternoon of drinks by the beach and the premiere of game of thrones (soo excited and i don't care how nerdy that makes me).

Song Of The Week: Rack City

Happy Hump Day! I made an executive decision to take Tuesday off and turn my 3-day weekend into a 4-day weekend - WIN! After a delightful weekend with the awesome jamie of all trades, B and I thought a little excursion out of LA would be a great idea. So we did exactly that, and left for Palm Spring Monday morning at 8:30 AM!

On the drive out we listened to all sorts of music that ranged from 80's to Classic Rock to Country to 90's and of course some Hip Hop. I was introduced to the rapper Tyga a few weeks back by B and didn't think much of him. Then "Rack City" came on not once, not twice but three times during our round trip drive, and wouldn't you just know that the third time was most definitely a charm for me. This chorus will get stuck in your head (warning), but that's okay because the song just gets me so pumped up. I am hoping it makes it into rotation at circuit works soon...

Song Of The Week: Knock Knock

Linley over at Dwelling & Telling chose Mac Miller's "Knock Knock" as her essential song for summer and I had never heard of the dude before.  But I liked the catchy beat and downloaded right after.

Turns out this song is not only great in summer but anytime of the year!  It totally leaves you bopping in your chair and I also catch myself knocking my fist in the air during the chorus.  This youngin' brings great lyrics, a beat you can dance to and the video is just too fun.  A little West Side Story, a little Grease and a smidge of Cry Baby.  Awesome all around.

Summer Essentials Series ~ jaime of all trades

Happy First Day of Fall and last day of summer essentials!  We wrap up the summer series with my seriously talented friend Jamie from jaime of all trades.  Jamie is an incredible baker who creates fabulous cupcakes for any occassion and she is available for hire to use for your own party.  Jamie is also stylish, on top of the trends and happens to work for a company I love very much....Starbucks.  Her blog is full of tasty treats, fashionable finds, and all sorts of goodies to try around Seattle.  I love her dearly and am pretty sure you will love her too after reading her blog.

*What one item can you not be without this summer?*

my weleda lip balm.  one of my favorite fashionistas, katherine power from who what wear tweeted about it and i just had to try it.  i am constantly applying this stuff and it smells amazing.  i'm thinking of buying a tube for my purse, my desk, my bathroom, my car.  i can't be without it.

*What are you craving for summer 2011?*

bright colored nails.  they feel so summery and look good with a tan.  i'm loving essie's braziliant, seen here.

*What is your essential summer song for 2011?*

countess luann's 'chic c'est la vie'

(JUST KIDDING! - phew)  this is always the hardest question for me but i'm picking taio cruz's 'dynamite.'  i've been to a million weddings this summer and whenever this song comes on i wanna get d.o.w.n.  it puts me in such a good mood.

Thank you J.O.A.T. for your summer picks!  I love the Brazillant collection (I own Smooth Sailing) and I am very tempted to try this new lip balm.  I also quite enjoy dynamite and kind of love the message behind the song, as the countess would say - sa bonne!  Be sure to head over to jamie of all trades for your daily dose of fantastic.

I also would like to thank again all the people who contributed to the series this summer.  We had a lot of picks and recommendations and I feel so honored that they took the time out to share their picks and that you took the time out to read and comment.  It really does mean the world to me!  Next week, back to random posts that pop up in my head as well as a few usuals you are used to!

Let's all be Chic C'est La Vie this weekend shall we?

Summer Essentials Series ~ Lynnie's Life

Today's summer essentials comes from the sweet and new proud mama by Lynn from Lynnie's Life.  I first met Lynn in college and let me just say this gal is the epitome of fun.  She is always game for whatever and will never let a wine bar, or a table interfere with singing Mariah Carey's ""All I Want for Christmas Is You" at the top of her lungs.  She is also a wonderful new mommy to Kyler and I just adore this woman oh so much!

*What one item can you not be without this summer?*

Watermelon and stretch cream lotion (I want to be able to sport a swimsuit again).

*What are you craving for summer 2011?*

Sun and cute maxi dresses. They make me feel pretty while being a swollen mess :)

*What is your essential summer song for 2011?*

I am loving OAR right now!  (I chose "That Was A Crazy Game Of Poker" as it reminds me of good old WSU - too many memories to this song).

Thank you Lynne for taking time out of your busy new life with little baby Ky and sharing your summer pics!  I can't wait to meet that little buddy at Christmas time!
