A New Moon, Followed By An Eclipse
I am little behind in my Twilight Saga updates, so here goes it….
I finished New Moon in January and while it wasn’t as good as Twilight, I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I loved it especially because Romeo & Juliet (star crossed lovers anyone?)played a minor role in this novel (hint, Romeo + Juliet + Paris = Trouble). This book was darker, and had some serious emotions that many people experience with heartache. Jacob became a major player in this novel, and I saw a side of Bella that I had seen before, which I have to say I kind of liked.
I am curious to those who have read New Moon, did you like Jacob after finishing this book or did you think he was annoying? I personally like his character a lot, but am finding that I am one of the few who likes him.
After finishing New Moon I rushed out to Target to purchase Eclipse (my first hardback of the series). A bit bulkier and harder to tote around, I began reading this novel with enthusiasm. Sadly, I didn’t really enjoy this book until the last 150 pages. I thought it was slow moving, uneventful, and boring. Luckily for me, Stephenie Meyers pulled it together and ended the novel with an action packed battle, and questions that left me begging for more (and I hope are answered in the final novel Breaking Dawn). Also interesting, is that in Eclipse, the novel Wuthering Heights came into play a lot…kind of makes me want to rush out and read it when this Twilight madness is over (one of the many classics I have never read for some strange reason).
Vampire Lovers….what did you think of New Moon versus Eclipse? Have you seen the Twilight movie? What did you think? I am anxiously awaiting its release on DVD March 21st. Although I have heard mixed reviews about the film itself, I have been told that I will fall head over heels in love with Edward…
On to the finale....Breaking Dawn

Great review. I haven't read any of the books but I watched the film. Not the best but it was fairly entertaining. However, Robert Pattinson as Edward is beautiful and brooding - definitely swoon-worthy.
i did not want to read these books..at all. my friend made me...and i read twilight in 3 working days. i loved it! i just finished new moon, and i agree..it wasn't as good, but i still enjoyed reading it...and yes, i wanted to punch jacob in the face...
on to eclipse for me...
p.s. i haven't seen the movie, but am looking forward to seeing edward on my tv screen.
You will LOVE the last one...hands down best one :)
I'm reading Breaking Dawn right now. Sooooo good!!!! I don't want it to end. And I am excited to see Twilight when it comes out on DVD at the end of the month. It's already in my Netflix queue.
i have to say i like the jacob character. if i dislike anyone, it's bella. now, i had to give my borrowed breaking dawn back to the owner in the middle of the book, so i have yet to finish it, but i've been told the bella character get's better. i do not believe them, but i will have to see...i also watched about 10 minutes of the movie, was thoroughly disappointed and went to bed. i will have to try that again too when the dvd comes out.
You're in the EXACT same place I am! I just finished Eclipse and am starting Breaking Dawn... As for Jacob, I kinda like him... but surprisingly, I think I'm one of the only people out there that LOATHES Bella!! I cannot STAND her! (It MIGHT partially be because I'm in love with Edward... but only a small part).
I saw the movie last weekend and thought it was a good representation of the book.. and its surprisingly seductive, considering the books are pretty G rated. They don't DO anything in the movie, but RPattz is soooo hot, its almost illegal.
Ah, ok.. I'm done. I can't wait to finish Breaking Dawn.. I hope I start to like Bella, but as of right now, its not looking good!
Breaking Dawn is the best of the 4. I seriously hated Book 2. The commentor above that mentioned hating Bella, she's not the only one. I find her to be one of the most annoying characters ever. She whines so much. Maybe if I was in high school I could feel sorry for her, but I'm not.. so I don't.
I'm onto the Sookie Stackhouse series of books that the HBO show True Blood is based on. I find them even better. They are 'adult' and very entertaining... not as much Romeo and Juliet more real world - but in a world of vampires living in Souther Louisana kind of way.
Book 4 is just the best! I loved the movie - you will love Edward. I didn't expect much so it wasn't a let down for me as I know some found it to be. Cannot wait to hear what you think!
I had a hard time getting into New Moon, but then liked it once I finished reading it. I often feel that Bella is way too "old", but in New Moon she was more like a normal teenager in that she had feelings for two people and was willing to explore them. I think the whole Bella/Edward relationship is a little extreme, which plays into why I think she is too "old" for a teenager and why I didn't love Eclipse. I thought it was boring and repetitive. I still love the series as a whole though, but the first book is still my favorite BY FAR. Can't wait to see the movie again!
I actually read all 4 in a week. I was pretty addicted and had a lot of time.
I think New Moon and Eclipse made me prefer Jacob a little more over Edward. Bella was just stupid.
Make sure when you are done with Breaking Dawn that you google Midnight Sun. Someone leaked the manuscript and she's put it on hold and probably won't publish it now... but you can still read it.
It's Twilight from Edward's POV.
I have to agree with Katy about Midnight Sun. You can read it on the author's website. It's my favorite although there's only 12 chapters. So good! Makes you love Edward more, and Alice! New Moon and Eclipse are my least favorites, but when you get through Breaking Dawn you'll realize that they were necessary. Actually, when I finished B. Dawn, I reread the whole series! Partially to catch things that I missed the first time around, but mostly because I didn't want it to end!
I loved Twilight. New Moon was a little slow for me, but I still liked it. Eclipse was probably my favorite, but I'm excited to re-read Breaking Dawn and see if I like it more the second time around.
I have not read any of these and before the whole movie surfaced, some of the women I work with kept talking about it. Now my mother is getting all over me to read them...I'm hesitant but from what everyone is saying a good series to get in to...atleast I know I won'tbe the only 24 year old or older reading them when I finally get down to it. lol :)
