Hoped For Better...

I have always heard such magnificent reviews about Hope in a Jar by Philosophy, but never used it as it didn't contain any SPF. So you can imagine my elation when they began to offer this moisturizer with SPF 20! Done and done. I rushed over to Sephora, picked up a jar and began applying daily. I was totally loving it (minus the smell) until I noticed I began to breakout. Of course being the optimistic dummy that I am, I figured it must be something else and continued to use the product.

I eventually ran out of the tub, and used some cheap stuff I had and wouldn't you know it, my skin cleared up. But don't worry...I bought it AGAIN! And sure as sh*t, my skin broke out again. So I grabbed my receipt and returned it to Sephora and am currently using a free sample of this guy and LOVING it! Perhaps even enough to purchase it once my sample runs out.

Here's hoping something works better for me next time!

Yeah- I was pretty disappointed with Hope in a Jar. It did nothing for me and my hubby hated the scent! Back to Kiehls for me!

I must have the most sensitive skin in the Universe. I have been on a quest to find a resonably priced face lotion with SPF. Love La Mer, hate the $195 price for a small pump container. Lyndsy's cousin Taryn recommended I try Cetaphil's face Lotion with SPF 15 which you can buy at your local grocery store for $10. Love,Love,Love it. Give it a try can't beat the price.

I am so glad you posted about this. I've been using the Philosophy Skin Care line for a few months and noticed my skin was breaking out as well. I thought it was because I had just gone off the pill and my body was reacting to the hormone change. What's your skin regime? I need a new one.

Oh no. . . I had that happen to me with 'oil of olay' years ago when I had to go heavier with my day cream. I have trouble finding the right cream.

Okay... so it's expensive but worth it. I swear by creme de la mer. i've been using it for years and have seen noticeable differences once i started using it. i'll never use anything else.
like i said, it's expensive. but you only use a little bit and don't have to buy that often.
nordstrom will give you a sample and i think once you try you won't go back! love it!

Wow! Who knew that so many people were having problems like me with this (not so) hope in a jar. Perhaps somebody at Philosophy will read this and take note (I wish!)

Jamie & Emily ~ I do enjoy the creme de la mer (when my mother allows me to use hers) but i just CANNOT commit to the price. I do have the face wash and I REALLY enjoy that - who knows, someday I may be lucky enough to be a regular user of their creme!

Maria ~ I almost purchased the oil of olay daily mositurizer with SPF in it...perhaps I will pass instead now.

Tara ~ too funny about the smell being gross right? perhaps I will sample the kiehls next! Thanks for the idea!

I'm a huge fan of Decleor (just not the price). That's what I was using before Philosophy. Right now Sephora is offering 40% off of its stuff. You should try it. Check out my post - http://christinasfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2009/06/sephora-to-skin-care-rescue.html
