Happy {Last} Weekend {In My Twenties}

This last week in my twenties has been spent drinking these...

but fear not, with the help of this,

I am sure I will end up like this....

{via}

With the girls on Saturday night! Woot Woot!

You should all have a fabu weekend too!

Forever Frugal Friday

I have had my eye on these Dolce Vita Trinity Studded Pumps for quite some time but just couldn't justify the $210 purchase.

I can however justify a $25.80 purchase...

I think I can look past the fact that they are velvet...because these Studded Pumps are a great knock off. However, I might need to see these puppies in person before any commitment is made.

A trip to Forever is definitely in the cards for me this weekend, and I am hoping to come back with some great finds like Miss Amber did (loving that grey and white striped skirt)!

Scrub-A-Dub-Love

A few weeks ago I saw this L'Oreal commercial with Freida Pinto using their new face wash and . I was sold in the first 10 seconds. So this past Sunday at Target I picked up a bottle of the L'Oreal Go 360 Clean Face Wash. I couldn't wait to wash my face!

Well I am happy to report that the next morning in the shower, I tried out my fancy new $5.99 face wash and absolutely loved it! It makes your face feel so soft and totally clean. I am hooked and look forward to washing my face with it every morning (I have a different product I use at night - more on that later). I am so hooked that this weekend, I think I will head back to target to pick up the L'Oreal Go 360 Deep Exfoliating Scrub. It also comes in a Cream Cleanser for Sensitive Skin and a Cream Cleanser for Normal Skin.

Give it go and let your skin glow!

Anna Paquin

I just had to share this clip of Anna Paquin from 2009, as her accent is just barely present. She plays the role of Sookie so well I had forgotten that Anna was born in Canada and grew up in New Zealand. However, do we think she is practicing for a role with that thick accent she was sporting at the SAG awards or do we think her fiance Stephen Moyer's accent is rubbing off on her?

I know...random.

Red Carpet Rundown ~ SAG Awards 2010

I didn't actually watch the awards, but I did check out the red carpet and while I think they were a great improvement from the Golden Globes, I still wasn't blown away. I have VERY high hopes for the Oscars!

YBB Faves:

I may be the only person who doesn't watch Glee (I know, I know...it's in my Netflix), and I may have been the only person who didn't like her dress at the Globes, but Lea Michele had me at hello in this emerald Catherine Malandrino dress. Wow!

Getty Images

Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon are just the cutest couple and I just love seeing them on the red carpet together. Kyra almost always gets it right in my eyes and this Vera Wang number was no different. She looked INCREDIBLE. The color, the cut, the fit, her toned body. Perfection.

Marion Cotillard was fun, sexy and a vision in Elie Saab. Notice the embellished shoulder I was talking about last week? Keep your eyes peeled for more fashions exaggerating that shoulder.

While most people know her from Glee, I will always think of Jessalyn Gilsig as Wilbur's mom from Nip/Tuck. She look regal and gorgeous in her purple gown (anyone know who the designer was) and had me coveting that dress.

So Close to Perfection:

Diane Krueger almost had the gold in her Jason Wu dress. But the mustard color was just not doing it for me. Her makeup and hair were gorgeous and I am really excited to see what she wears for the Oscars.

I heart Christina Applegate and adore her style and grace on the red carpet. I loved this Robert Cavalli dress but wish it had just a little more color to it or she had gotten just a little darker of a spray tan. Either option would have been drop dead amazing.

Getty Images

Anna Kendrick looked pretty in her Alberta Ferretti dress, but her hair and makeup could have used a little help. The bold fuchsia was just a bit too much for her understated makeup and hair. Plus I really wanted her to wear some huge earrings or accessories. This look was too safe and a bit boring.

Bad, Bad, Bad Fashion:

How Vera Farmiga could go from looking stellar at the Globes to old and yucky in one week is beyond me. The colors of her J. Mendel dress were atrocious on her, as was her bold red lipstick and weird funky hair. She seriously aged herself 15 years in one week. I am hoping her stylist compared the two events and realizes that one look was definitely better than the other for the Oscars.

I am all for mixing it up at award shows and being a little daring, but Michelle Monaghan's Calvin Klein number just wasn't the right place or right fit or right anything.

Getty Images

While I love me some Sookie and True Blood and I think Anna Paquin is adorable, her Alexander McQueen dress was not the right choice again for the event. For the Grammy's...maybe. Her hair did look really cute, but I was a little thrown off by her British accent at the awards ceremony....anyone else?

Oh darling Drew...I am excited this year has been so good to you, but a little upset that you seem to be missing out on the best dressed list just barely because of the little details. Monique Lhuillier had a good idea going with this dress, the color is beautiful, the top half of the dress and the very bottom are executed lovely and then there's the middle part. It looked a little like she had just baked some goods in the kitchen and forgot to take off the apron. If you subtract that layer, throw some lipstick on her lips I think she really would have been a winner in two categories.

Who did you love or hate? Whose fashion are you looking forward to seeing at the Oscars?

No You Weren't Supposed To Put Bacon In The Peanut Brittle...

It did NOT taste good.

Back in November I posted about my love for all things bacon. I shared that I was dying to try the Sir Francis Bacon Peanut Brittle, and lucky me...Mrs. R brought some for me to sample this weekend.

In a nutshell, the experience was GROSS. It was too smokey and just not good at all. Another bacon dessert disappointment. Back to the drawing board I go.

However, I must share with all of you LA folk (or peeps planning to visit soon) that I may have found the best bacon at a restaurant ever. La Grande Orange in Santa Monica uses a date glaze over their bacon and it is glorious. Perfectly crisp with just a touch of sweetness.

So I continue on with my search for the best bacon dessert, I may have a long journey ahead, but I am willing to give it a go.

One dessert that I do not believe will disappoint at all is this Toasted Marshmallow Shake...

SERIOUSLY?? YUM!

Song Of The Week: Telephone

Yes, she's done it again. Just when you thought Lady Gaga, couldn't produce another rockin' hit, she gives us "Telephone", which totally kicks ass. The beat is super catchy and my favorite lyric is,
"...Cuz I'm out in the club and I'm sippin that bubb and you're not gonna reach my telephone!"

I absolutely heart Lady Gaga and she can do no wrong in my eyes. I couldn't find the actual "Telephone" music video, but this spoof or fan version gave me a good laugh this Monday afternoon. Enjoy!

Happy {Bestie} Weekend!

Woo-hoo! After a week of rain and gray I am ready to bid it adieu and welcome my bff Mrs. R back into LA! On the agenda for the weekend ahead, laughs, memories and some Cougar College Basketball. All in all it should be a fantastic one.

Hope you weekend is happy and full of sunshine!

Forever Frugal Friday

I am loving this simple black dress with a little bit of "flair" on the shoulders. Apparently embellished shoulders are all the rage right now (see here, here, here and here). And while I am not quite ready to tackle spikes or shoulder pads à la Rihanna, I do think that I could rock this dress and feel a little tough and edgy at the same time.

What do you think of embellished shoulders? Go for it or Pass?

Missing Your Mojo?

The beginning of the new year always means everyone is back at the gym and you are fighting to use the next treadmill or elliptical. Twenty Ten is no different, except if you are having a hard time getting motivated or staying energized might I recommend you try a Clif Mojo Trail Mix Bar?

They are 70% organic and so tasty. I usually split the bar up between two days for that little pick me up in the afternoon around 3 PM. The Peanut Butter Pretzel is my favorite and totally keeps me on track for the gym after work. I have found that most "energy bars" tend to be dry, or tasteless and I have to force myself to eat them, whereas with the Mojo bar I have to tell myself half today, and half tomorrow because I could eat the whole thing in one setting.

A bar that tastes good, is well balanced and gives me my "mojo" back....yeah baby!

Word Up Wednesday

The weather in LA has been a bit dreary, and while I heart a good storm normally, being at the office is making me thaleepy....These little gems made me smile today, hoping they do the same for you!

Perhaps not the most practical idea, but it is rather tempting...

Red Carpet (Rain) Roundup ~ 2010 Golden Globes

The 2010 Golden Globes were this past Sunday and I have to be honest, I wasn't that impressed with much of the fashion. Below are the good, the bad and the really bad and ugly.

YBB Faves:

source unknown/Frazer Harrison/Steve Granitz (click on photos to make larger)

I was so happy to see Christina Aguilera looking so marvelous at the awards. Usually she is wearing too much makeup, or her hair is too blonde, or something just isn't right. Well on Sunday she got it all right! Her makeup was soft and the dress complimented her incredible post baby bod! The big winner Toni Collete dazzled in Elie Saab and has me seriously wanting to check out The United State of Tara as she beat out some pretty incredible fellow actresses. Lastly, that Heidi Klum is just so stunning, and her smile and love for her hubby Seal just radiates in her skin. I loved this dress as it was unique and the color was so pretty.

Stunning in Strapless:

Jason Merritt/Harrison/Merritt

All of these women looked smashing in their strapless gowns. Vera Farmiga's eyes looked so blue in contrast to her black mermaid gown. Her earrings were equally impressive as well. I adore that Christina Henrdricks so much as Joan on Mad Men, and although the color wasn't my favorite, I thought she looked "fierce" in her Christian Siriano gown. Her makeup and hair were perfection and she reminded me of an old school glamour star. I don't generally follow Glenn Close, but on Sunday she was striking and classic in her Oscar de la Renta sparkly gown. Totally age appropriate and it fit perfectly.

Didn't They Almost Have it All:

Merritt/Merritt/Steve Granitz

These ladies had almost everything working in their corner. Emily Blunt looked radiant next to her fifi John (who wouldn't really though) and her D&G dress was gorgeous, but her hair (yes I know it was raining) left much to be desired. Sandra Bullock was refreshing in bright violet and all smiles with her nomination (and win!) but her hair needed some help as well and the dress just wasn't 100%. I liked it but wanted a little less sheer and a little more fitted. Sweet Drew looked quite the lady (and winner) in her Atelier Versace dress but I wanted to rip that hip puff off and add just a little more color to the dress and it would have been just perfection.

Missed the Mark:

Harrison/Granitz/Merritt

I sadly had more selections of disappointments than good dresses this award show. However, I whittled down to these three looks. Lauren Graham had a good idea with the bold pink that flattered her dark hair, but the dress looked like a bad reject prom dress and I have to say I was a little shocked to find out it was Monique Lhuillier. I really like the premise and story behind Jennifer Morrison's dress (her boyfriend gave it to her for Christmas), but I just did not love this one. The color washed her out and the tiers made her look hippy and big. As for the usually impeccable Diane Krueger, I want to appreciate her taking a chance on a "different" style of dress but this was not a winning gamble. Her makeup and hair was equally gross and all I kept thinking was a horrible, horrible bridesmaid dress.

I wasn't blown away by the fashion at the Golden Globes but I am super excited for all the upcoming awards and am crossing my fingers that I will once again be "ooohed" and "ahhed" by the fashions to come. Who was your favorite? Whose dress did you hate? What award show are you most looking forward to?

Song Of The Week: Blame It On The Pop

I was a little behind reading my Entertainment Weekly and discovered this amazing and totally FREE download Blame It On The Pop by DJ Earworm (weird name, talented guy) as their #1 pick for the week.

It perfectly sums up the kick ass songs of 2009 and gets me motivated for my 2010 resolution to get in shape at the gym. While on the website I downloaded some other great mashups and so far I am NOT disappointed!

Blame it on whatever, but free music that rocks is just marvelous to me!

Pretty Please...

Shea Cashmere™ Body Lotion

Last week I shared with ya'll how in love I was with Diamond Powder Body Wash, and doesn't it just seem fair that after washing with diamonds you should moisturize with Cashmere? I first became familiar with this incredible luxurious lotion from a coworker who smelled so good I just had to ask, and when she shared with me the name, I popped right over to Bath & Body Works and picked up a bottle of the True Blue® Spa Shea Cashmere™ Body Lotion. I was so happy that I found a moisturizer that not only smelled heavenly but left my skin soft, dewy and lovely. This lotion gets me compliments whenever I wear it!

Bad news: They stopped selling it in the stores.

Good news: My GF Jaime called me at work one day to share the news that they finally were selling it online again after a 6 month hiatus.

Sweet Santa brought me two bottles under the tree and I am just as happy as can be. Go ahead, don't stop at the diamonds, treat yourself to a little Cashmere.

Under The Weather...

Pardon the lack of posts but what I originally thought was a case of too much wine turned out to be a little flu bug that has kept me in bed and a bit out of it since Monday. This is the first time I can remember going 2 days sans coffee (and I am definitely feeling it). Thank goodness for fellow bloggers, as this post brought a huge smile to my face this AM, can we say peaches and cream?

Happy Hump Day!

Song Of The Week: Morning After Dark

Oy! I may or may not have indulged in a little too much red wine last night, and am definitely feeling it the morning after....which is why Morning After Dark is just too perfect for today and this week. I am addicted to this song currently and the video makes me giggle with Timbaland's crazy eyes in the video.

Enjoy...I will be back the morning after today.

Happy {Sporty} Weekend

Football playoffs, college basketball, and a few rounds of beer pong have me wishing ya'll a sporty weekend full of fun and laughter!

Forever Frugal Friday - Saved By The Bell Style

While searching for this weeks frugal find, I crossed paths with this Darling Sue Knit Top, and I instantly flashed back to my favorite episode of Saved By The Bell, you know the one.....Hot Sundaes, Caffeine Pills, a certain Pointer Sister song....

I mean this Sue Knit Top is a complete combination of Jessie Spano's outfit in this video. Which makes me kind of really want it for some reason. It may not be the most fashionable of tops, but it would really work well for the next SBTB party you are attending!

I'm so excited, I'm so excited, I'm so...glad it's Friday!

Dead Until Dark (On the Shelf)

I have placed Charlaine Harris' Dead Until Dark back on my bookshelf. I have been trying so hard to get into this book and I just cannot. Call me a quitter, or maybe I'm tainted from watching True Blood (which I LOVE) but I lack any enthusiasm for reading this novel. I am not completely giving up....just taking some time apart. Maybe I will try reading it again this summer.

Until then, I am re-reading my fave classic from high school The Catcher in the Rye to see if it is as good as I remember, so far I think so.

Diamond Body Wash Is A Girls Best Friend

I received a free sample of the Nivea Touch of Sparkle Cream Oil Body Wash just in time for my trek to Solvang. I have always been a bar of soap kind of gal, and was pleasantly surprised by this product. The scent is clean and not over powering, and it left my skin feeling oh so smooth and soft. My girlfriend Lisa used it this past weekend when she was in town and raved about how much she adored it as well. So next time you are in the market for a new body wash, try this baby out....go ahead shower yourself in diamonds!

Song Of The Week: Ready

With 2009 in the past and 2010 wide open, I felt that Kelly Clarkson's "Ready" was a great way to kick of the new year. Ready for endless opportunities, new beginnings and anything and everything thrown my way. Hope you're ready too!
